Many of our instruments can be used in the study of Yeast or Fungi. Below are listed some of the uses of our facility in these studies.
Flow cytometry can be used to study cells based off of either cell surface proteins or internal/cytoplasmic proteins through antibody staining. DNA be also be stained in these cells. This will allow many different types of studies with yeast/fungi.
The Zeiss Axioskop can be used to view stained cells, as well as fluorescence and phase contrast.
Our Imagers may be used to view an Ethidium Bromide Gel, or some other blot with DNA, RNA, or Proteins.
Our Nanodrop Spectrophometer can be used to measure concentration and purity of 1 µm samples of DNA or RNA. It can also be used to measure bacterial concentration of samples.
Our Centrifuges can be used to pellet a bacterial population, and pellet DNA.
