Many of our instruments can be used in the study of Plants. Below are listed some of the uses of our facility in the study of Plants.
Flow cytometry can be used to study plant genome size by comparing unknowns with controls of a known genome size. Below is an example of a genome comparison. The second sample has a genome size that is a bit more than twice the size of the first.
The Zeiss Axioskop can be used to view stained plant cells, as well as fluorescence and phase contrast.
Our Imagers may be used to view an Ethidium Bromide Gel, or some other blot with Plant DNA, RNA, or Proteins.
Our Nanodrop Spectrophometer can be used to measure concentration and purity of 1 µm samples of DNA or RNA.
Our Centrifuges can be used to pellet DNA.
