Microscopy - Brightfield/Phase Contrast

An investigator is able to use the Axioskop Microscope to view stained slides using brightfield, or view unstained slides using the phase contrast filter. With phase contrast denser areas will show up as a brighter spot.

This is a brightfield image of macrophages stained with maygrunwald/geimsa stain.

This is a phase contrast image of inclusion bodies inside of bacteria. The white areas inside the bacteria are the inclusion bodies, being more dense.
